Heartburn symptom has nothing to do with the heart as the name would suggest. It is, in fact a digestive problem. Heartburn symptom is felt or described as a burning sensation and most people suffer from it at one time or another.

When acid rises up into the oesophagus it causes it to become inflamed and at times painful because there is no protective lining there unlike the stomach. There are several causes of heartburn with the most common being eating large meals, smoking, pregnancy, and being overweight.

Heartburn Treatment

What are some of the things you can do to avoid getting heartburn? Well, other than pregnancy, the risk of a heartburn attack can be minimized in most other instances. Avoid eating large meals just before bedtime. Most of us have done it and I can tell you from personal experience, it’s a habit we can and should avoid.

Certainly if you’re a smoker then you should seriously consider quitting. Smoking is a known cause of heartburn particularly straight after a large meal.

Food And Heartburn

Eating large amounts of food at one time can increase the instance of heartburn. It’s often been said to eat your food in smaller amounts more often and this is just common sense. Food eaten in smaller amounts gives your digestive system a better chance of digesting it. Avoid bending unnecessarily after eating food.

Eat sensibly. Some foods can bring on the symptoms of heartburn for some people. If you find this is the case then you should either avoid them or seek medical advice.

Being overweight, bad posture and tight clothing can also be associated with heartburn.

Baking Soda & Heartburn

One of the most typical paths to treating heartburn is to water down one big spoon of baking soda in a drink of water. For a number of years, baking soda has been recognized as one of the finest answers to angina. The best thing about baking soda is that is inexpensive. If you use baking soda to treat heartburn symptons, you won’t need to spend a large amount of money.

Since baking soda is generally available in the food store stores, you don’t have to go see your GP to get a prescription however, it’s recommended you check in with your doctor before using it.

Apples & Heartburn

According to mavens, apples are great acid neutralizers. For a few years, people have utilized the natural antacids of apples to alleviate discomforts created by the symptoms of heartburn. The nice thing about an apple is that you can eat as much as you like without getting any detrimental effects. The more apples you eat, the better off you’ll be.

Apples are terribly rich in fibers and vitamins that would help your body maintain a healthy and powerful disposition.

Acidgone – All Natural Treatment for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, GERD, Acid Reflux, Heartburn (60 servings)

• Acidgone provides natural relief for acid indigestion and heartburn.
• Acidgone coats the stomach lining and insulates it from the harsh effects of stomach acid.
• Acidgone has an ideal pH of 7 which makes it effective in absorbing and neutralizing secreted stomach acid.
• Acidgone does not interfere with the body’s natural digestion process.
• We guarantee that Acidgone will positively impact your life.

Acidgone is an all natural powder made from a proprietary combination of water-soluble fibers, detox herbs, and nutrients. Unlike anti-reflux drugs, which inhibit the secretion of gastric acid leading to indigestion, Acidgone does not interfere with the digestive process.

Acidgone acts like a soothing gel-like lubricant that coats the stomach lining and insulates it from the harsh effects of stomach acid. When mixed with water alone, Acidgone has the ideal pH of 7. This makes it effective in absorbing and neutralizing secreted stomach acid. Most prescription medications actually block the secretion of acid, which interferes with the body’s natural digestive process.

If you suffer from heartburn, acid-reflux, or GERD, consider an all natural remedy.

What our customers say:

“I was diagnosed with GERD. After trying prescription drugs – Nexium, Prilosec, over-the-counter antacids, etc, my symptoms remained the same and even got slightly worse. I found Acidgone o

Heartburn is one of the most common acid reflux, hiatus hernia and GERD symptoms. Heartburn symptoms include chest pain, a burning sensation in the esophagus, hoarseness and sore throat. This is caused by corrosive stomach acid as well as stomach contents that reflux back up into the esophagus. Some people choose to try and treat these symptoms with antacids and doctor prescribed medications. However drugs like these have a history of severe and even life threatening side effects.

Fortunately natural treatments for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux and the resulting heartburn have proven extremely effective especially in conjunction with a good diet and regular exercise. Below we will take a brief look at what heartburn, GERD good foods, bad foods consist of and how you can implement them into your diet.

Heartburn, GERD good foods, bad foods are defined as those that trigger symptoms and those that help prevent and cure symptoms, while of course some foods will fall in the neutral category. It is commonly understood that spicy foods and fast food are the culprits behind heartburn problems. However while this may be true it is also highly acidic foods that often act as triggers to painful heartburn. This is due to over production of stomach acid and higher ph levels in the stomach. However, note in some cases it is possible some reflux problems especially with GERD, may be caused when there is too little stomach acid and stomach contents are not being digested properly. This does not mean you should try easting more acidic foods, but eat wisely and treat it with natural remedies.

]]>

It is relatively easy to look up lists of heartburn, GERD good foods, bad foods by whether they fall into acid or alkaline categories. However what can be trickier is to implement the good ones into your diet and eliminate the bad.

One great way to introduce a better ratio of heartburn, GERD good foods, bad foods into your diet is using new or replacing ingredients in your recipes. This can apply to actual foods as well as herbs and seasonings. When trying to improve and change the heartburn, GERD good foods, bad foods in your diet consider some of these ideas.

· Replace acidic meats with beneficial fish like salmon and tuna.
· Eliminate acidic fruits and add more watermelon, papaya & banana.
· Do not use store bought dressings for salads. Avoid dairy based dressings and make your own oil based ones.
· Try new herbs and spices such as basil, mint, fennel seed and ginger which are natural remedies for reflux symptoms.

Sometimes diet and knowing heartburn, GERD good foods, bad foods just isn’t enough to cure and relieve all your symptoms. There are many other natural remedies you can supplement with including drinking water with baking soda or chewing gum after meals that can help greatly.

, is the medical term for what most people refer to as acid reflux disease.

Gastroesophageal is a relatively new term for acid reflux disease. It has been used for approximately the past 20 years. Before that it was just referred to as heartburn. But heartburn is just one of the symptoms of GERD. Some of the other symptoms of GERD are regurgitation, hoarseness or laryngitis, the feeling of a lump in the throat, coughing, bad breath, asthma, difficulty swallowing, and water brash. Some people with GERD do not have any symptoms at all.

It starts with acid in the stomach washing back up into the esophagus repeatedly, which happens if the lower esophageal sphincter becomes relaxed.

can cause the lower esophageal sphincter to relax. This is not an all-inclusive list but some of the most common are: chocolate, licorice, peppermint, fatty foods, caffeinated beverages, and alcohol. Barbiturates, calcium-channel blockers, Diazepam and Sumitriptan are some of the medications that cause the lower esophageal sphincter to relax and allow acid back in to the esophagus.

can be very effective in helping to control GERD although over- the-counter medications, prescription medications, and possibly surgery, may also be necessary. Some of the lifestyle changes that may help control GERD include: losing weight if you are overweight, avoiding high-fat foods, not lying down right after eating, not eating large heavy meals (i.e. don’t overstuff yourself—especially on fatty foods), and stopping smoking if you are a smoker.

GERD can be a difficult disease to diagnosis. That is because of the wide range of symptoms people can experience and the complication of some people not experiencing any symptoms at all. It is easier to diagnosis if a person is experiencing the classic symptoms of GERD which are heartburn and regurgitation. In some cases a physician will not do tests right away but will first prescribe over-the-counter or prescription medications to see if they clear up the symptoms.

do not take care of the symptoms then a physician will likely do one or more of the following diagnostic tests: x-rays with a barium swallow, an upper gastrointestinal x-ray series, an upper endoscopy, an esophageal manometry, or a 24-hour pH probe. The reason physicians may try over-the-counter or prescription medications before running tests is because some of the tests, such as the upper endoscopy and pH probe are invasive, and because of the costs of some of the tests.
, a physician will recommend lifestyle changes such as the ones mentioned earlier in this article to help control the GERD, and depending on the severity will recommend over-the-counter medications or will prescribe a stronger medication by prescription. The medications may need to be continued indefinitely because over half of all people who stop taking their medications after getting their symptoms under control have a recurrence within a year.

If the medications do not alleviate the symptoms, surgery may be needed. Surgery is also an alternative to having to take medications indefinitely. A procedure called a is the type of surgery typically done to relieve GERD. In the surgery the upper part of the stomach located near the esophagus, called the “fundus,” is wrapped around the lower esophagus. Doing this strengthens the barrier function of the lower esophagus, thus preventing gastreosophageal reflux and repairing the main irregularity that occurs in people suffering from GERD. The surgery is usually done laparoscopically. It is considered a safe surgery (but remember any surgery carries risks) that typically gives good results.

There are other alternatives out there that could keep you away from the GERD medications and the surgeries.Click Here to Learn How to Cure Your Acid Reflux and GERD Naturally

Gastroesophageal reflux disease, also known as GERD, occurs when a muscle-like valve where the esophagus joins the stomach opens spontaneously or doesn’t close properly. Stomach contents, including digestive juices, leak back and rise up into the esophagus. Unlike the stomach, the esophagus can’t tolerate these digestive juices or acids, which can irritate, scar and even destroy its lining. The acids can also affect the mouth and lungs.

It’s estimated that 7 percent of Americans experience GERD symptoms daily, and twice that number experience them weekly. Typical GERD symptoms are heartburn, regurgitation, a bitter taste in the mouth and trouble swallowing. Less common symptoms are excess saliva, nausea, and chest pain. If the GERD causes damage to the esophagus, mouth and/or larynx, it can result in coughing, laryngitis, asthma, tooth damage or sinusitis. On occasion, GERD can also cause severe middle back pain. GERD has also been linked to sleepwalking, presumably because the discomfort disturbs sleep patterns. Infants and children can also suffer from GERD.

GERD can have many contributing factors, including obesity, pregnancy, hiatal hernia, certain medications, smoking and drinking alcohol. Chronic GERD that is left untreated can result in serious complications like ulcers, inflammation and scarring of the esophagus and lungs, and even esophageal cancer. Depending on its severity, treatment for GERD may involve lifestyle changes and/or medications, or surgery. Mild GERD can be treated with over the counter GERD medicines like antacids. Proton pump inhibitors PPIs such as Pantoprazole Sodium 40 mg (brand name Protonix) are the most effective GERD prescription medications for more serious gastroesophageal reflux disease. Proton pump inhibitors can relieve symptoms and heal the esophageal lining in almost every case.

Life style changes include stopping smoking, losing weight, and elevating the head of your bed 6 to 8 inches. Avoid foods and beverages that trigger symptoms, eat slowly, eat small frequent meals, don’t eat late at night, and avoid lying down for three hours after a meal. Foods to avoid include citrus fruit, onion and garlic, mint, chocolate, cheese, eggs, fatty and fried foods, vinegar, spicy foods and tomato-based foods like spaghetti sauce, chili, salsa and pizza. Drink lots of water to help offset acidity and aid digestion. Avoid beverages containing caffeine, carbonated drinks and alcohol. Don’t wear belts or clothes that fit tightly around the waist, and avoid bending over.

People with GERD symptoms should seek medical advice before treating themselves with GERD meds. Heart attacks can cause chest pressure and heartburn similar to GERD symptoms. Ulcers can also cause similar symptoms.

Many who begin feeling more than the occasionally bout of mild heartburn may actually be suffering from the more serious condition of acid reflux disease or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). These symptoms may be due to different reasons which require different treatment. Chronic GERD is the result of a damaged and weakened lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which acts as a valve over the stomach. Another cause of GERD can be due to too little or too much stomach acid. Obviously the wrong treatment will only make your condition worse.

However more important is that ignoring symptoms or merely trying to get relief with antacids can lead to more serious complications. One of these is Barrett’s esophagus, where the lining of the esophagus is replaced with cells like those in the stomach. This alone may not be life threatening but it does mean a much higher risk factor for developing a deadly form of esophageal cancer.

Patients suffering from reflux and GERD symptoms are sometimes prescribed medications by a doctor. Unfortunately these drugs can cause severe side effects. These side effects can cause other infections and deadly health problems. This is especially true in the case of allergic reactions to medication. It is much safer to find a natural cure or home remedy that can work as your GERD treatment.

Elements Of Natural GERD Treatment:

Eliminating bad habits
Exercise
Changing diet and meal plans
Changing food types and ingredients consumed
Changing actions after eating
Finding home remedies for relief and prevention of GERD symptoms

Creating an effective GERD treatment plan can mean many lifestyle changes, although most are minor. It can be difficult to put all of these factors of your GERD treatment into practice at once. As with any other area of life ‘failing to plan = planning to fail’. So take a little time to sit down and map out what you can do to implement a natural GERD treatment regimen. This can not only save your life but make it much easier to cope with the changes.

A GERD Treatment Plan Should Include:

1. Writing down the bad habits you need to eliminate to help your GERD treatment, create a plan to rid yourself of them step by step. For example smoking.
2. Create time in your planner and schedule time to exercise regularly, 20-60 minutes 3-4 times a week would be ideal.
3. Research the foods you should be eating and shouldn’t be eating and make changes to your shopping lists. Make sure you get the right items to have on hand when you get hungry.
4. Your LES needs to have time to heal. As a result, you should avoid certain foods and drinks for about a week when you begin your GERD treatment. Avoid coffee, alcoholic beverages, carbonated drinks, acidic foods, spicy foods, and crunchy items like toast, crackers, and cereals.
5. Avoid bending over after meals. Do not go to sleep immediately after eating a big meal – which by the way, you should be eating smaller meals 5-6 times/day.
6. Whenever you feel an attack coming on, eat a red apple. Apples work as a natural antacid and many of our customers have had great success with them. In fact, many people carry a plastic bag with sliced apples around with them…just in case.

By making a trip to your local grocery store, you can get started with your GERD treatment plan and start feeling better fast.

GERD: Reflux to Esophageal Adenocarcinoma

The increasing incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma has created an enormous interest and stimulus for research in this area. GERD brings together, for the first time, a vast amount of disparate literature and documents the entire pathogenesis of reflux disease in one place. The book presents reflux carditis as a new diagnostic criterion of GERD and for the first time defines the dilated end-stage esophagus and the earliest microscopic phase of GERD that is missed by present diagnostic criteria. GERD presents both clinical and pathological information and is meant to be used as a comprehensive reference for gastroenterologists, esophageal surgeons, and pathologists alike.

*Brings together the pathogenesis of the disease in one source and applies it toward clinical treatment
